One cent sale

Every year at work I have a back to school party for all of the kids on my property. It's pretty fun for them and it's fun for me to put together. I make a "back to school bag" for all of the kids. I get so excited at the back to school deals and I usually get started stocking up pretty early. Staples got me kick started this year with their $.01 deals. It's kind of hard because they limit the number of items you can buy but I usually stop by on my way to and from work. Sometimes I take my kids and I give each of them a quarter or whatever the total is and we all make our purchases. Today I got little hand sanitizers, folders and packages of pencils for a penny! I spent a total of 15 cents. Big spender!

That's such a great idea! We have ZERO resident events - ugh. Whenever we plan something, no one is there but staff.

I'll have to pick your brain sometime!!

Ally- Here was one of my favorites, and I could not believe how many people showed up (About 40 or so) but on the 1st day of spring I did a "Show us your favorite shoes" day. I had little kids showing up in their (gasp) flip flops, women in cute heels and even husbands came. Everyone who came got to enter their name for a $20 Payless gift card and we drew a name at the end of a day. It was fun!

I love that!!! We should do more small events like that - we try to do big stuff (parties, etc) and it's always a bust.

Thanks!!

OK, last comment on my own comment- I also did pizza boxes with cute "special delivery" labels and had a pizza party where everyone did their renewal papers. The invitation to the party was inside the boxes. It was fun!

We did the renewal party once but, again, another bust. We mailed out invitations and everything but all of two people showed up.

Email me if you don't mind and we'll not clog up your comments w/shop talk! allisonrae -at- gmail -dot- com

I so wish I lived where you two work! The Office/Mgmt staff where I live stinks! They don't do anything except raise my rent! The complex is at 98% leased and has been forever because it has a great location. People are on waitlist to get into the 3 bedroom units for usually months at a time. I think it is because of this that their customer service lacks severely. It is hard for me because I do property mgmt/lease administration on the Commercial side of things and we are all about enhancing the tenant experience and "creating fans". Oh well, I probably won't be there too much longer since we are heavy on the house hunt.

Back to the original post though - thanks for posting about the Staples' Deals. Every year I donate to and volunteer for Back Pack Attack, plus we have a supply drive here at work. I think I will suggest lunch near a Staples tomorrow and we can all buy a few things to donate (there is no excuse not to at those prices). :-)
