Sitting duck

This morning I took Caroline to feed the ducks/geese. As always, they get a little aggressive about getting more, more, more bread. I was getting more bread out of the bag and I stood up just in time to see Caroline petting a goose! I could not believe it. She had her hand right on it's back. Scared me, but apparently not Caroline or the goose.

School's Out!

Hard to believe but Tessa just finished up her sophomore year. Time flies! Seems like just yesterday she was just starting the year...

SATC Movie NIght

So we went for the 12:01 a.m. showing. I got home around 3:00 a.m. I have an investor coming to visit my property today (in 6 hours) and I'm hoping he understands that I am tired. But I have to say the movie was PERFECT! Absolutely perfect. I would not have changed one thing.

Having my cake and eating it too!

In an effort to have all of the fun we can possibly have, my friend Brittney and I are now:
Going to see Sex and the City Thursday at midnight (Crazy, right?) There is a party at BOMA we may go to first.
Sitting in the FRONT ROW at Chelsea Handlers show Saturday night! This is in addition to getting my book signed by her Saturday afternoon!
I can't wait!

Life is sweet!

Next Saturday (the day I get to go see the Sex and the City movie) just got even better. Chelsea Handler who I think is absolutely hilarious is coming to Barnes and Noble that day and signing copies of her new book. I read the book last month and I seriously was laughing out loud! Her show is funny, her books are funny, she is funny.

Not to offend PETA, but I'm great at beating a dead horse

Or as my husband will tell you, I don't know when to let it go. "It" being whatever he decides I've gone on and on about for longer than necessary. So, back to my obsession with the Sex and the City movie night. I have now devoted obscene amounts of time to looking at shoes, purses, accessories online and thinking about the movie. I've decided I really want yellow pumps for the event. And in a perfect world I would pick these. But even with free shipping I just don't think I am going to pull off the $522.00 price tag. Or the almost 4 inch heel. Even I know my limitations.

I Beg to Differ

My husband thinks I am incorrect about what a big deal the Sex and the City movie is going to be. He thinks I am nuts for planning a cute outfit, heels, the works. Hello? Did you SEE the show? This is serious business! Parties are being planned around this event. Outfits are being planned around this event. As my friend Brittney said "We are going to be fabulous!" I CAN'T WAIT!

Happy Dog-Gone Birthday

Today is our dog Brooks 13th birthday. We had a piece of birthday cake left over from another celebration early in the week and so last night we put a candle in the cake and sang Happy Birthday to her. Then we all gave her a treat. Kind of hokey I know but we really didn't even think Brook would be here after the holidays as she was diagnosed with liver cancer so it was nice to be able to do a little celebrating. I got the cutest picture of Tessa Caroline and Brook but I can't find my cord to my camera to download it. I'll find it though. Until I do, a simple Happy Birthday will do.

I woke up this morning and realized just how excited I am for the Sex and the City movie to come out next week!

I was on the Hostess With the Mostess blog and saw a link to this cute floral arrangement. I wanted to give it a try, but could not find the flowers I wanted to go along with the yellow/green/citrus look. I had decided to just scrap it when I was at the grocery store and saw these orange tulips for $2.00. It didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted but I like it. The colors are fun and refreshing.

What? No Bunco???

Well, since my life is so full and exciting I play in not one, but TWO Bunco groups a month. What is Bunco? Up until a few months ago I had never heard of it but now I am hooked. I won't bore you with the details, but I will tell you that Bunco is SO exciting that there is even a World Series of Bunco in Las Vegas. Tonight would have been my 2nd Bunco group for the month but we had to cancel as we were short people. Instead I got a manicure and watched the hilarious season finale of The Office. I'm normally not a big manicure person but I completely wrecked my nails mulching the other day and I could not get all of the mulch out from my cuticles and nail beds. We have a dinner in Cinci this weekend and my hands looked like I had been doing car repairs or something. OK, so back to the point (as if there was one) here is a picture of my group I play with on Tuesdays. They are so much fun, even though I am by far the oldest person in the group. I am like their Yoda or something. These pictures were taken when we did a hat night theme. If you ever get invited to play in a Bunco group you should try it at least once. Or organize one for your neighborhood or girl friends. It is tons of fun! And no skill is required!

Stuff White People Like

A few months ago I found a pretty funny blog called Stuff White People Like. I just found out that the blog is being published as a book. Too funny!

Living the dream

Due to the amazingly crappy and rainy weather I haven't been able to mulch our yard. I am so anxious to get this done that I had Brian lay all of the bags of mulch out in our yard so that as weather permits I can get the mulch spread. So yesterday I looked at the weather for the week and guess what? Other than yesterday we are going to get rain, rain and more rain. I decided to use vacation hours, come home and mulch. And I roped Tessa in on the deal. She sure was excited to come home and get all dirty! She did get pretty excited at the giant slug she found. (I'm not sure if you can see the slug in her hand or not in the picture)

I gave up (mostly) looking through mail order catalogs a while back. Once in a while I still look at some of them though. I saw the cutest gift idea in one today. It is from Room Service Home. They really do have some cute stuff. But I didn't order anything. A few weeks ago I noticed that one of my catalogs even SMELLED good. I felt like it was me against the catalog to see if they could tempt me into opening that thing up!

Squirmy Wormies and Cows

We made another one of our fun filled trips to visit the OSU dairy farm around the corner from us. The cows are all tagged and named. We found one named La Fonda. I don't know if you've ever seen the movie Napoleon Dynamite but there was a girl named La Fonda and it was so funny to find a cow with the same name. Also, Brian returned home from a fishing trip with his dad and brought back an entire container of fishing worms. Caroline thoroughly enjoyed them. She made big plans on where to set them free in our yard. This was after she had a chance to play with them first.

PS I Love You

Brian is out of town fishing with his dad and Tessa and I decided to have a wild night and get a Pay Per View movie after Caroline was in bed. We got PS I Love You. I didn't realize that
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was in it. I love him! He was so awesome as Denny on Grey's Anatomy. Anyway, what a great movie. Harry Connick Jr. was also in the movie and he was great! If you haven't seen it it was a nice movie and I didn't expect I would like it as much as I did.

Big Brown VS Big Red

We're home from the Derby, and it was a blast. We saw so many fun hats, and some even better t-shirts. At the hotel there was a couple that had so many suitcases and they were only staying for the weekend. I asked what was in all of the suitcases and the guy told me that each of his wifes hats had their own suitcase. The hats are a VERY big deal. I won a grand total of $13.00. Where I really hit the jackpot was with my very bad sunburn. It really helped that I was still peeling from Arizona and then I went and stood outside in the sun for about 8 hours at the races. Complete strangers kept walking up to me telling me about my sunburn. Gee, thanks. On top of the hats and t-shirts one of the best parts was walking into the track. To get in you have to walk through a tunnel that runs underneath the track. It is a lot like when you walk through the tunnel by St. John's arena to get to an Ohio State game. People were coming into the Derby yelling "OH-IO." There were tons of Ohio State fans and that was pretty fun. We met some girls at the hotel who work about a mile from our house. Also, on our way to Louisville I was talking about how I took Tessa to the Waffle House on our way home from Xavier and how awesome it was. Then as we pulled up to our hotel there was a Waffle House! That Waffle House was awesome for a middle of the night hash brown run! So Big Brown may have won the race but my major sunburn has earned me the nickname Big Red. Also, the Goo Goo Dolls were there doing a free outdoor concert the night before the race and we got to see that. (Oh yeah, it just so happened that the Easter Bunny costume was in the trunk of my car so we did a little trip around the hotel in it.)

Off to the races!

A couple of friends and myself are headed to the Kentucky Derby. I've got 2 big hats packed so we can make sure to fit right in! This should be a good time. Things usually get a little silly when my friend Kathy is around so keep your fingers crossed that she doesn't try to sweet talk her way onto a horse! Maybe I'll get lucky and hit the trifecta! (Or the slots at the casino the night before!)
Giddy up!
