Oops I did it again...

Well, it appears that I am in fine form this week. Today, I left for work with no pants on. I thought I was wearing a dress. I wish I could say I was exaggerating, but I'm not. I bought a new "dress" recently. I knew I would need to wear it with tights, but it was REALLY cute. The girl at the store offered to sell me the leggings that went well with the outfit, but I said no. (This might be where paying attention to a salesperson might come in handy.) So I left with my new dress. And today, I decided to wear my new "dress." I got dressed and left for work. And you know how sometimes you have a bad feeling? I had a bad feeling I did not look right. My "dress" felt a little short. And I still had the receipt in my purse, so while I was driving I looked at it. Well, I was wearing a tunic and tights. And knee high black boots. Mmmm hmmmm. And I'm already in the car and I was working out of town again. So I stopped into Target to buy a pair of leggings to wear for the day. Amazingly enough I got a compliment on my outfit from two people. Little do they know I started the day pant less and clueless.
Looking forward to the weekend and the much needed facial I have scheduled at Aveda!

How NOT to conduct a job interview...

True story.

I have been out of town A LOT lately for work. And at one of my sites, we have been interviewing for a new employee. So, as I interview I always try to remember that as much as I am interviewing them, they are interviewing me as well.

*Is this a person I would want to work for?

*Is this someone I can respect? Trust them for leadership?

*Does this person set the standard for this company?

Well, I had an interview first thing Monday morning, and it is about an hour drive to get to the site I was interviewing at. I got there about a half an hour before the scheduled interview, allowing myself enough time to look over their resume and other paperwork. The person interviewing was a little ahead of schedule. Better to be early than late. Well, I needed to use the restroom after my drive, so I introduced myself to the candidate, shook their hand and let them know I would be with them in a minute.

I then proceeded to go to the restroom, which is off of a hallway in our building. After I came out, I realized I had locked myself into the hallway in the back of the building. I was not about to knock to get let back in. No way, no how. I opted to go out the back door of the building, walk around and let myself back in the front door where the applicant was sitting. Well, there are a bunch of windows and everyone saw what I had done. Great. So much for my good game face.

Sweet corn and black raspberry...

If you are even thinking "Katie, you've lost your marbles" I can tell you that yes, quite possibly I have but not in the ice cream arena. Oh no, I KNOW my ice cream. Hello, my first three jobs were Baskin Robbins, Bresslers Ice Cream and TCBY...

My love of Jeni's Ice Cream began during the great shopping with drawl of 2009. (Otherwise known as Lent.) In my desperation to shop, I rationalized that ice cream shopping was different than clothes shopping. It was love at first taste. And I haven't looked back.

Today I CRAVING Jeni's. To the point where I put dinner (cornish game hens, yum) in the oven and drove over.

And all I can say is that I found the ice cream that offers more bounce to the ounce. It is the yin to my yang. This ice cream could give a lonely girl something to look forward to on a Friday night.

I dare you to doubt me. If you live in Columbus, I dare you to try it. Just leave some for me. But you'd better hurry up, this is a seasonal flavor and won't be around for long.

More bookmobile books...

I have three more books I'm adding to my "lending library." If you want to read any of these, just let me know.

and lastly, the book I can not believe I bought in April and waited until this week to read:

A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick. I can't say enough good things about this book. It was a truly enjoyable read.
Either post a comment or email me at ktlangmeyer@yahoo.com if you'd like to read any of these.

Dinner made easy!

Thank you Super Suppers! I am always, always thankful for an easy recipe or simple way to feed my family. If you've never been to Super Suppers, this is the way to go! You can either go pick up a pre-made ready to go meal (all you need to do is heat it) or you can go and "assemble" a meal (or several) from the current menu offerings. Trust me, I've done the cost analysis on this and by the time I buy the ingredients, plus spend my time chopping and measuring everything out you come out ahead. And, the menu offerings are not items I would know how to make on my own anyway. So, whats for supper tonight at my house? Ravioli Ole! Yum!

Fact versus fiction...

Fact- I went to see the premier of the movie Fame tonight with my friend Trinette. It was AWESOME.
Fact- My trip to DC this weekend is not going to happen.
Fiction- My friendship with Judy Blume I was going to pursue in DC is never going to happen.
Fact- My Loubie is still MIA.
Fact- Yes, I blogged about wondering if it was acceptable to chop off one foot so I could still wear the remaining shoe.
Fact- I did not, nor am I planning on really chopping my foot off. For real. So, to the person who searched "How much does a foot weigh" and wound up on my blog I want you to know that I do not advocate chopping a foot off. Really, if you lost your shoe like I did, maybe we could swap the remaining shoes and each have a pair?
Fiction- My chances at finding my own Fame on "So You Think You Can Dance."

*So really, like many bloggers I have "Blog Patrol" that tells me random search words and phrases that people used to find my blog. "How much does a foot weigh" was typed in and landed some poor random person on my blog. Again, I beg of you, if you have lost a shoe and are considering chopping off the other foot, don't do it. Instead, go to endless.com and pick out a new pair. It's much easier, and depending on your health care plan much cheaper in the long run. Provided you can still run after chopping off a foot. But that is an entirely different post...

Flashback to the 80's...

As mentioned, going back home to Indiana is always fun for me. I know my trips there are work related but I try to get a little extra out of them. On this trip I got EXTRA lucky- I got to see two friends from high school, Matt and Wendy. I have not seen these two since 1989! Crazy, right? And yet I had absolutely no problem walking up and recognizing them sitting in a crowded restaurant. You would think after 20 years we would look so different but really, I don't see that any of us has aged drastically. Whew! We graduated in a class with hundreds of people, and we kind of all moved in our own different circles, which came together in their own ways. In high school, Wendy was a cheerleader, I was a journalism buff and Matt was more creative. (I may be crazy, but I think Matt was in swing choir with me at one point, but he can correct me if I'm wrong.) What is interesting to me is that as we are adults, the old barriers are down. No more crazy "high school esteem" or "peer" groups apply. We just sat around, had a few drinks and had a blast. Wendy was telling us how when she is able to run 10 miles, she feels really good. I mentioned that when I get my Volvo to drive 10 miles I feel pretty accomplished as well. Matt is learning to become a stronger runner with Wendy as his trainer. Pretty bummed that I didn't get a picture of our mini reunion, but really, I think we all look the same. Fresh faced and ready to face the world! And ready for our 20 year class reunion in a few months. (A pony keg for the hotel rooms has already been mentioned. Hmmm... I think we are going to rock Fort Wayne once again, kickin' it old school.)
Cheers Matt and Wendy! Looking forward to many more memories together! And a very special thank you to facebook for helping so many old friends reconnect!
*Edited to add- Kimberly, I'm sorry I didn't get to catch up with you. My goal was to be there Sunday by dinner time which turned in to Sunday at bedtime and we had work functions for lunch both days I was there. We may just have to plan another girls trip instead... Heck, I didn't even have a chance to pick up my new ball cap while I was there!
Also, it appears I was correct. Matt and I were in swing choir together. Ahhh, the sweet sounds of Lionel Richie being sung by a bunch of pre-pubescent kids from Indiana.
