Construction zone

There was a bunch of siding left over after our house was finished. The contractor, Dustin from Aspen Siding and Roofing asked if we wanted the leftover siding to build a playhouse. Which led us to another project with Mike D'Angelo, the guy who can build anything. (313-7181)

Well, the grass is NOT always greener on the other side...

Here is where the new siding for our house sat for 3 weeks. (Thank you Jaime and Bob for helping move the siding. For the record, Bob turns 85 next week. You can see Bob on the June 03 post.) Caroline, Katerina and Maria are the smart ones. They have it made in the shade.

Guilt tripped

Tessa has been nagging at me that Caroline has Crocs and she doesn't. I finally broke down and bought her a pair. They are lavender. Great.

Gas to Lane Avenue Mall: $1.00 (I'm too lazy to walk. It's hot out there!)

New Crocs for Tessa: $30

End of Tessa nagging me about new Crocs: Priceless

The search is on

I broke it to Tessa today that she needs to get a job for the summer. I am not going to win any popularity contests with her right now. Tomorrow the search begins. (We went to Barnes and Noble to get an application but they won't take anyone under 16)

A brave new world

I have been "unsubscribing" to all of the shopping websites I get emails from. I am very proud of myself for decreasing online shopping temptations! This is in addition to the recycling all of the catalogs we get without looking through them. I've even called some 800 numbers to remove our name from their mailing lists.

Deep thoughts with Brian...

Brian raised a very good question today: If a person researches something, what is it called the first time they do it? Search?

Pepsi, the breakfast of champions!

Is this my kid or what?

Brian and the powerwasher (Modern day David and Goliath)

I can't believe I actually got Brian to powerwash the chimney and driveway. I thought I was fighting a losing battle but I was wrong!

Maybe Columbus IS a cowtown...

Just off of Lane Avenue and Kenny Road there is an OSU farm. There are a lot of cows there and we go visit them on a pretty regular basis. It's pretty neat because they come right up to you. We feed them any leftover hay that is sitting around. There are little calves too! We've all been licked by them. Today they licked Caroline's face and hair. A little icky, but still fun! If you've never been the street you turn off from Lane Avenue is called Carmack. There is an OSU sign right there. They don't mind if you pull your car up and get out.

Field trip

Today was Caroline's field trip with daycare. They got to ride the bus and go strawberry picking. They tasted great! The farm is just up in Dublin and it was pretty neat.

Another one bites the dust

I've learned a lot over the last 24 hours. Warm water encourages dwarf frogs to mate. Hence yesterdays picture of the frog action. However, fish don't seem to fare as well in warmer waters. I may have gauged the water temperature incorrectly as we had a floater this morning. Thankfully Caroline hasn't noticed the missing fish. On a positive note we got to babysit our friend Adalynn tonight. She was perfect and we had a blast. Caroline wanted to feed her chicken. We settled on baby crackers.

Car washing and frog love

Talk about an exciting night! I decided to clean the fish and frog bowls. The fish have a car in their bowl so I had to wash that, and you can see what the frogs were up to when they got back into their own bowl. I think they like each other. The fish are Gwynnie and Benny and the frogs are Theo and Dan. (All named by Caroline after friends and a teacher from daycare)

Fingers crossed!

As of today, Tessa is done with finals. We are anxiously awaiting her grades and sophomore year. She is not amused when I ask her if she is feeling sophomoric. Come to think of it, she's not amused by much of anything I say...

A fashion statement...

I got to the daycare to pick up Caroline. It's never a good sign when you get there and your child is wearing a different outfit than the one you dropped them off in. It's usually a sign that you will be doing laundry that night. Caroline had an "accident" today and they put her in a pair of back up shorts. Rest assured, if she gets lost she will be returned to her daycare, Fundamentals, as they have clearly marked on the shorts. I'm not sure if this is intended to be free advertising or a way to make sure the shorts get returned to their rightful owner.

Soccer mom

Here is Caroline with her friend Stella at soccer. Brian says this makes him a soccer mom.

The fun never ends

So, on Friday I came home and went to take the trash out to our garage. I noticed that a limb from our tree had fallen and landed smack in the center of our glass topped patio table. (Except we don't have a patio. That is next years project.) I couldn't figure out what happened so I went to ask our neighbor Bob, because he knows everything! I guess there was a storm during the day and he heard a big "crack" and then our tree limb was on top of the table. Amazingly enough the glass didn't break.
